State Honoree

Brian Harris

Brian Harris, Cypress High School, founded an international pen-pal service called "Friendship Sees No Color," to combat racism and promote global understanding. He sent press releases on his program to national television talk shows and appeared on the "Home Show," "The Leeza Show," "Real Life," and "Mike and Maty." Harris receives letters from thousands of people around the world who want an international friend and in the past three years, he has arranged pen-pal relationships for 20,000 people.

"The problem with society isn't that it is filled with bad people, but instead that it is filled with good people who don't think they can make a change."
