Gillian Kilberg, Westminster School, Simsbury, used a $20,000 inheritance from her grandmother to found "Grandma Rita's Children," a camp providing day trips for needy and abused children near her home in Virginia. Forty-seven children, mostly from a low-income housing project in Fairfax County, Virginia, visited 15 Washington, D.C.- based museums and attractions in the summer of 1996. Kilberg recruited over 70 people to chaperone the trips and raised more than
$30,000 in donations for next year.
"I recommend volunteering because you will gain as much as you give."
