Sara Stieben, 15, of Preston Junior High in Fort Collins, Colorado, was compelled to volunteer in any way she could during a tragic flood that devastated her hometown. A veteran volunteer with the town's Food Distribution Center and her local church, Sara knew that her hands were desperately needed when water ravaged Fort Collins. "I knew I just couldn't stand back and watch," Sara said, as she helped residents pump water from their homes, salvage their belongings,
and sort and deliver food and clothing donations. Day after day, Sara reported to various flood relief centers, offering her assistance in any way she could. "All of the flood victims benefited from my help, and that feeling will stay with me forever," Sara explained.
