Lauren Griner, 15, of Brookstone School in Columbus, Georgia, has personally raised nearly $30,000 to support the March of Dimes since she became an advocate at the young age of 8 for at-risk babies. Since then, Lauren has initiated her own fund-raising campaign with a mailing list of almost 250 supporters, has gathered a team of walkers from her school, and has motivated numerous corporate teams by sharing her fund-raising tips. The March of Dimes in return has recognized Lauren with its Volunteer Mission Award, and has appointed her the Youth Chairperson for its Columbus, Georgia chapter. When she's not collecting donations for the annual march, Lauren accepts speaking engagements to address the community about the prevention of birth defects and the mission of the March of Dimes, and assists the organization in its various other fund-raising events. Lauren has been named the number one Youth Walker in Georgia for three years in a row due to the funds she has raised. "There is so much more that I can do - I feel like I have just started," she said.
