Stephanie Jackson, 13, of Boyd County Middle School in Ashland, Kentucky, is an active member of her community who has initiated a variety of service projects to help those in need. Her first project was a drive to collect unused books which she then donated to the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The books made their way to area Veterans Hospitals for patients to enjoy. Stephanie also volunteers at a local hospital where she helps the nursing units
by making a variety of charts that make their jobs easier. Finally, Stephanie has distributed over 400 plastic trays, that would have been discarded to school teachers who use them for storage and science projects. "I tell others that what is garbage to some may have a use somewhere else, so always think about recycling," said Stephanie.
