Moira Delahanty, 13, of Hooksett Memorial Middle School in Hooksett, New Hampshire, volunteered as an aide to a swimming instructor with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Once Moira had advanced in her own lessons, she realized she wanted to help younger kids overcome their fear of the water. "The kids liked to have me around, and I like being there," said Moira. She completed a special training session and volunteered for one month over the course of two summers. Moira worked with children as young as 15 months old, and was proud to have a hand in teaching them to swim and enjoy the water.
