Zachary Adkison, I 5, of Carey Junior High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming, enlisted the support of his teacher and his entire class to clean up Crow Creek, a tributary intown that had been destroyed by garbage. "Every day, we drive past Crow Creek to get into town, and one day my mom said that someone should clean it up," Zach said. He agreed with his mother, and decided to take matters into his own hands. Once Zach's teacher agreed that it was a great class project, Zach and his classmates spent three days removing garbage from the creek, clearing overgrowth, and planting flowers and bushes. The project was so successful that Zach's class has since gone back to Crow Creek to maintain the beauty they worked so hard to create. "Before, Crow Creek looked like a garbage dump; now it looks like a park," he said.
