Tiffany Ringold

prepared and distributed educational toy packets to needy children after organizing a fund-raising campaign to purchase the toys. At Christmas time, and only at Christmas time, Tiffany noticed that needy children receive donated gifts. So she decided to make a difference in needy children’s lives in the summertime, too. “The fact that people only took notice of the needy once a year bothered me,” said Tiffany. “I felt it was important to reach out to these children so that they would feel special.” She ran her idea by the local YWCA, Community Action Agency and Salvation Army, all of which agreed that Tiffany’s plan would have great impact. Tiffany began by placing coin collection jars at local businesses, and obtained donations from those businesses as well. She also arranged a presentation at a local daycare center, where Tiffany spoke to the children about the project and the importance of volunteerism. The pre-schoolers lent their helping hands by decorating paper bags that Tiffany later used to wrap the educational packets. In just one month, Tiffany collected $145 and purchased enough toys to prepare 135 packets, which the community agencies distributed to children in need. Tiffany has already started her campaign for this year, and will be distributing her gifts in person.
