Erica Rymer

South Carolina

helped collect school and medical supplies for 1,500 needy children in a Haitian orphanage. Inspired by the example of missionaries Bob and Sherry Burnette, Erica wanted to help children living at the Burnettes’ “Love A Child” orphanage. Erica set out to collect back-to-school supplies, medicine and cash donations for the children of the orphanage. She spent many hours creating flyers, stuffing envelopes, speaking at church and community meetings, taping radio appearances and visiting local companies and businesses to ask for donations and help. As a result, approximately 1,500 Haitian children received book bags, crayons, colored pencils, paper, pens, toothbrushes, toothpaste, rulers, baseball caps and other materials. Medical supplies and a much-needed water purification system were also donated. “I tell all my friends to get involved in volunteer work,” Erica says. “It makes your life count.”
