Sally McClintock

delivers books and audio tapes to home-bound senior citizens and physically challenged individuals living in her community. When Sally realized that many people shared her love of reading but were physically unable to get to the local public library, she decided to start a free book delivery service. First, she approached staff members at the library with her plan, which they agreed to support. She placed signs around town, explaining her free book delivery service and listing her phone number. Sally now delivers books to several home-bound seniors and disabled individuals each week, loading her bike baskets in good weather and relying on her mother for transportation during the winter. Sally plans to continue her delivery service “as long as people are still interested in reading books,” she said. “It makes me feel good when I see the smiles on peoples’ faces.”
