Distinguished Finalist

Madeleine Seidel, 16, of Troy, Mich., a member of the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan in Detroit and a junior at Clonlara School in Ann Arbor, created and leads "Teens for Our Planet," a group of teen volunteers dedicated to building leadership and teamwork skills through community service projects targeted at underprivileged populations in the Detroit metro area. During its first year, teens from five counties worked on nine projects serving senior citizens, the homeless, the working poor, and the environment.
