Distinguished Finalist

Logan Lafayette, 17, of Hampden, Maine, a sophomore at Hampden Academy, raised $800 by collecting 16,000 aluminum cans to benefit cancer research being conducted at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Logan, who was inspired by his brother's battle with melanoma, also participated in various benefit runs for the cause and is making a quilt for a young cancer patient.
