Distinguished Finalist

Katherine Van Gerpen, 17, of Pierre, S.D., a senior at T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, conducted a cyber bullying campaign for 200 area youth that included an anti-cyber bullying rally, entertainment, refreshments and a presentation by a local attorney. Katherine, who had been invited to help by the local parents' organization, first surveyed area youth to determine their knowledge of cyber bullying before implementing the event.
