Scott Fetz, 17, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, a junior at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, wrote a 25-page manual for people interested in volunteering with patients with Alzheimer's disease and dementia at the Regency at Hualalai Retirement Home. Scott, who has volunteered at the home where both his grandparents had lived for six years, included information in the guide on understanding dementia, interacting with patients and handling challenges, along with routine volunteer procedures.
