Distinguished Finalist

Carl Breidenbach, 18, of Boise, Idaho, a senior at Timberline High School, coordinated a riparian restoration project that stabilized a popular recreational access point along the Boise River. Carl, who wrote and received a $500 environmental grant, sought material and in-kind donations to complete the $2,000 project, recruited volunteers and planted 100 native plants.
